LEARN TO KNIT

Two Sessions:
Saturday, September 13 & 20
4:00-6:00 pm

This is the class for complete beginners. You will learn how to knit, purl, cast on, and bind off.
No materials are needed; you will get needles, yarn, and a book with the class.

One Session:
Tuesday, September 2

This is the class for complete beginners. You will learn how to chain stitch, single, and double crochet.
No materials are needed; you will get a hook, yarn, and a book with the class.

KNITTING 102

Two Sessions:
Tuesday, September 16th & 23rd
6:00-8:00 pm

KNITTING 102

This is the intermediate class. You will learn:
-how to read a pattern and a chart.
-how to do a variety of increases and decreases.
-how to do some basic pattern stitches.
-how to choose yarn and needles for your next project(s).
Materials Needed: Bring a pair of needles and yarn to practice new stitches, but don't worry about size or type.

CROCHET 102

One Session:
Saturday, September 6
4:00-6:00 pm
--or-- Saturday, October 11
4:00-6:00 pm

This is the intermediate class. Learn how to read patterns and charts, and learn some intermediate stitches. Bring your questions or patterns.
Please know how to chain and single crochet before attending this class.
Materials needed:
Yarn and a hook to practice new stitches. No particular size or type.

CROCHET ON THE DOUBLE

One Session:
Saturday, August 30
4:00-6:00 pm

Crochet on the Double is like a cross between crochet & knitting, using a double-ended hook. You may also have seen it called "Cro-Knit." It's a variation of Tunisian crochet and is super easy to learn. You will learn by making a cotton dishcloth.
Instructor: Tamara
Materials Needed: A 10" double-ended crochet hook, size H, I, or J. Two skeins of Coolspun Cotton in contrasting colors.

BASIC SOCKS

Two Sessions:
Saturdays, September 13th & 20th
10:30 am - 12:30 pm

Want to knit your first pair of socks? This is your class! You'll make an ankle-length, worsted weight sock that is designed to knit up quickly and familiarize you with basic sock construction.
Instructors: Becca & Jackie
Materials needed: One set size US 8 double-point needles. 1 skein Berroco Comfort or Cascade 220.
Required skills: Please know how to knit and purl and be familiar with the technique for knitting in the round.

MATHEMATICAL SOCKS

Three Sessions:
Tuesday, August 26, 5:00-8:00 pm
Tuesdays, September 9 & September 23
6:00-8:00 pm

This class is a more intensive look at the construction of socks and the math you use to make them fit just right. If you want to adjust a pattern, create your own pattern, or just want to know more about knitting socks, we recommend this class.
Instructor: Deb
Materials Needed: 100g fingering (sock) weight yarn, size needles recommended for yarn. You can knit with double-pointed needles, one long circular, or two circular needles, whatever you prefer.
Required skills: Please know how to knit a basic sock before taking this class:(knit, purl, decrease, knit in the round, pick up stitches) before taking this class.

CROCHET EMBELLISHMENT

One Session:
Tuesday, September 16
6:00-8:00 pm

If you have seen any of Tamara's embellishments, you know how talented she is at taking ordinary items and making them transcendent with some crocheted details. You can learn how to do some simple flowers in this class to start your own embellishment project.
Materials Needed: A couple of crochet hooks in a variety of sizes. Steel 0 or 1 through US D or E work well. Cotton yarn such as Catania or fingering (sock) weight yarn.

BASIC MITTENS

Two Sessions:
Tuesdays, September 23 & 30
6:00 - 8:00 pm

This class is designed to introduce you to knitting mittens. You'll knit a basic pair of worsted-weight mittens to learn mitten construction

Materials Needed: Size US 8 double-point needles. 100gr or 200 yds of worsted weight yarn.

Twice Weekly:
Wednesdays, 1:30-3:30 pm
Saturdays, 2:00-4:00 pm

We will help you with whatever it is that ails you. Pam on Wednesday and Becca on Saturday are on duty and at your service. We do not charge, nor do we require that your materials were purchased at Twist. We do hope you'll learn something and come back again.

 

EPS SWEATER

 

Fourth Saturday of every month, 10:30-12:30 pm

"EPS" stands for "Elizabeth's Percentage System." Elizabeth Zimermann came up with many ingenious techniques, including this foolproof, methodical system for designing your own sweater. Laura will be here to help you along with your EPS sweater. Drop in as you need to.

Class policies
Payment is due at time of registration. Registration may be made online, by phone, or in person. If you are unable to attend a class, your registration fee will be returned in store credit that may be used for another class or for merchandise. No cash refunds for class fees.
