How it works: (the important information)
Each month's qualifying products will be announced at the shop, in the e-mail newsletter, and on this website. The discount card is only good on the qualifying products, during the month in which they are highlighted. (You can't get 15% off of February's sock supplies on March 1st, for example.)
 
There is no deadline for completing each month's socks other than March 31, 2009. Anytime you bring in your completed sock - one month or three months or six months later - you get the prize. No prizes for the 2008 club will be given after March of 2009, however.
 
Modifications are allowed, to a certain point. The idea is to try a variety of sock patterns, yarn weights, needle styles, and knitting techniques. However, if you would like to use a different yarn with the same pattern, or modify the toe or heel of a pattern, allowances will be made - final decision as to whether or not you qualify rests with Shelly. :o)


SEPTEMBER

Pattern:Glowing Toes by Judie Wise. $5

It's a pedicure sock! There's also a toe option, if you want to go ahead and knit toes. We're using a DK weight yarn and size 2 needles.

Yarn: Colinette Cadenza. 100% superwash wool. 50g/130yards. $9.50 per skein, 2 skeins required for a pair with 3"-4" cuffs and no toes.

MAY

Pattern: Red Herring from Knitty.com. FREE!!

Yarn: Noro Kureyon Sock. 70% wool, 30% nylon. 100g/458yards. $19 per skein, 1 skein required for a pair - but if you want, you can use two different colorways, like I did (see picture below)



Shelly's Yarn Notes:
This is a love-it-or-hate-it yarn. The colors are glorious and have slow, beautiful transitions. They are very long colors, which you may think is great, because no other sock yarn does that; or you may find crazy because no other sock yarn does that. It's thick and thin, which you may find charming and interesting or annoyingly inconsistent. It's also not very soft while knitting. It softens with washing.

Shelly's Pattern Knitting Notes:
My foot circumference is 9", and the cuff was perfect but the foot a little loose. If I were to do it again, I'd decrease more after the colorwork, before the heel.

***Special Options***
1) You can use two different colorways, or split your ball of Noro and use the same colorway (the colors will still alternate on the cuff, because they're so long!).
2) You can do the stranded knitting as written, or you can substitute knits for the main color and purls for the contrast color and do the pattern that way.
3) You can just do your favorite sock pattern, because the main thing is to try the yarn this month.

Pattern: Broadripple Sock from Knitty.com. FREE!!

Yarn: Cascade Fixation. 98.3% cotton, 1.7% elastic. 50g/100yards. $4.60 per skein, 2 skeins required (or three if you are making socks bigger than women's size 10.)

NOTE: This pattern calls for size 3 needles, and you need to knit this yarn relaxed, rather than stretched.
